Pamela M. Schavey, CPA, J.D.

CPA Tax Attorney

Pam received her B.S. in Accounting from Oral Roberts University, graduating with a 4.0 as the university’s top accounting student. Immediately after graduation, she passed the CPA exam with her score placing her in the top 4% of the country. In addition to these accomplishments, Pam also attended a 2-year Bible training center.

Desiring to continue her education, Pam obtained a law degree from Regent University, graduating in the top 5% of her class. She then passed the Virginia Bar in October 2000, where she is currently licensed to practice. Pam has worked with David Epstein, one of the leading clergy tax lawyers in the country, serving churches with their accounting, tax, and legal needs for over eleven years. She served as in-house CPA Tax Attorney for Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, from September 2000 through December 2001. Pam has assisted some of the largest churches in the country with their accounting setup, software implementation, and legal issues, but also spends considerable time helping small to intermediate churches and ministries.

Chad W. Schavey

CFO

Chad began working with ChurchShield in October 2000, and has provided accounting, financial, and tax advice to over two hundred churches and ministries around the country. Chad currently serves as CFO of ChurchShield and is responsible for administration and accounting for the firm. Chad is also presently responsible for on-site implementations of accounting software, helping to design and develop charts of accounts, comprehensive budgeting systems, and providing guidance for internal control structures and procedures, as well as reviews for clients on an on-going basis. Chad assists nonprofit organizations to identify areas of unnecessary expense and assists management with the development and implementation of strategic plans to find savings through creative means, specifically through reduction of general and administrative expenses. Prior to working at ChurchShield, Chad worked for a regional CPA firm for three years. While employed there, he gained experience in reviews, compilations, audit engagements, monthly write-up work, consulting, tax planning, and tax return preparation. Chad brings over ten years of accounting and tax experience to the firm.

Ryan R. Foust

Senior Tax Manager

Ryan graduated Anderson University summa cum laude with a degree in Accounting and Economics and has been a member of our team since 2003. While at ChurchShield, Ryan has gained significant experience working on ministerial tax returns, researching extensive tax matters, and assisting ministers in tax planning. Ryan also has experience in numerous areas of accounting such as administering various journals, cash receipts, cash disbursements, accounts payable and receivable, assisting with organized charitable giving and designing and implementing various accounting information systems.

Shanner H. Drake

Legal Assistant

As Legal Assistant, Shanner assists churches and ministries in legal setup and continues to assist them as they grow and take on new endeavors. Shanner also assists ministers with financial and retirement planning and specializes in the implementation of proper legal, accounting, and payroll setup to ensure compliance with IRS standards.

Shanner graduated cum laude from Wabash College and was in the top 5% of his class. At Wabash College, he majored in Religion with a Business area of concentration. While at Wabash, he founded and ran two separate Christian outreaches and served as an Associate Pastor at a local church plant. Shanner currently serves as a deacon and director at his local church.

Brian R. Stump

Accountant

With a business degree from Anderson University, Brian joined the ChurchShield team in 2006. He brings a wealth of professional experience to the firm in management, financial planning, recruiting, and insurance. Brian is currently licensed as a loan originator for commercial and personal mortgages. He also holds licenses for health and life and property and casualty insurance. Brian assists nonprofit organizations with the setup of proper insurance plans. He also assists in ministerial tax preparation and planning.

Luke D. Denton

Account Manager

Luke began working at ChurchShield in 2006. As a remote CFO for multiple accounting clients, Luke has extensive experience on how to set up new accounting systems as well as manage those systems for existing clients. He specializes in customer service for day-to-day operations and works with clients to ensure that all policies and procedures comply with IRS regulations. Luke graduated magna cum laude from Anderson University with a B.A. in Finance and was recognized as the University’s top finance student.

Alex S. ElNaggar

Account Manager

Alex joined ChurchShield in 2005. As a remote CFO for multiple accounting clients, his main tasks are to handle the day-to-day accounting for clients and financial statement preparation. In addition to accounting duties, Alex monitors clients’ financial activity to ensure that they are in compliance to IRS and federal regulations. Alex is a graduate of Anderson University, and prior to joining the ChurchShield team he worked with one of the top Fortune 500 companies and was responsible for managing financial transactions.

Kyle R. Webb

Account Manager

Kyle joined our team in 2005. Kyle holds an accounting degree from Anderson University. As one of our account managers, Kyle handles the day-to-day accounting for our clients and monitors financial activity to ensure that they are in compliance with IRS and federal regulations.

Rachel E. Bergman

Accounting Assistant

Rachel joined the ChurchShield team in 2007. Rachel is responsible for various accounting duties, data management, and processing clients’ financial transactions. Prior to working for ChurchShield, Rachel worked in the accounting department for one of the top Fortune 500 companies. Rachel also brings three years of management experience to the team.

Natalie M. Webber

Legal Assistant

Natalie is a graduate of Anderson University, where she was recognized as the university’s top business student. Since 2006, Natalie has been assisting churches and ministries with the proper legal set-up, including incorporation and obtaining non-profit status, as well as solving other legal issues for churches and ministries.

Kristin M. Dickman

Office Manager

Kristin has been with us since 2005 and manages our accounts receivable, human resources, technology, and other general administration for our growing firm. Kristin attended Anderson University where she graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors in Business Management.

Brooke Thomas

Payroll Manager

Brooke Thomas graduated cum laude from Anderson University with a B.S. in Accounting and a minor in Finance. Brooke has extensive experience in nonprofit accounting. Brooke assists the firm with preparation of nonprofit information returns, as well as processing client payroll and managing employer state and federal taxes and their related withholding returns.

Jessica Myers

Accounting Assistant

Jessica has been with us since 2006 and assists with various accounting duties for our clients. She has also assisted with corporate set up and other legal documents for churches and ministries.

Jake Tyler
